Vignettes

Sea Shells & Pearls
Vanity vignette

I love vignettes (at least that's what I refer to them as...tableaus perhaps?), the gathering of treasured objects displayed in one's home.  I love arranging them in my own home and for me they are constantly changing, keeping things interesting and dissuading me from more drastic redecorating like painting the walls or rearranging the furniture (again!)
When I saw this charming collection of sterling and pearl jewelry amongst heaps of lovely sea shells on a friends bathroom vanity, I just had to take a photo.  Here it is...inspiring me now to seek out even more of these delightful groupings and share them with you.  And so the quest begins.

The Lake. To

In spring of youth it was my lot

To haunt of this wide world a spot

The which I could not love the less-

So lovely was the loneliness

Of a wild lake, with black rock bound,

And the tall pines that towered around.

But when the Night had thrown her pall

Upon that spot, as upon all,

And the mystic wind went by

Murmuring in melody-

Then- ah then I would awake

To the terror of the lone lake.

Yet that terror was not fright,

But a tremulous delight-

A feeling not the jewelled mine

Could teach or bribe me to define-

Nor Love- although the Love were thine.

Death was in that poisonous wave,

And in it's gulf a fitting grave

For him who thence could solace bring

To his lone imagining-

Whose solitary soul could make

An Eden of that dim lake.

-Edgar Allen Poe, 1827

This has always been one of my favorite poems and there was a time when I had it completely memorized.  It seems morbid at first but I find it only slightly haunting and somewhat uplifting.

Another Etsy Front Page

I can't believe my good fortune! I just figured out (yeah, I'm a little slow...) that the second treasury I ever made also made the Front Page of Etsy!
This one was on the Front Page on Halloween, how cool is that? I'm over the moon and itching to get my hands on another treasury, soon
:)

That's a lovely scent you're wearing...

Fig Apricot eau de parfum by Fresh®

One of my absolute favorite perfumes is the Fig Apricot scent by Fresh.....I just can't get enough of it!  It has this true, figgy-ness to it and the apricot blends perfectly.  It's sweet, but not sickeningly so and has that delicious, clean smell.

Fig Apricot Body Cream by Fresh®

Fig Apricot Shower Gel by Fresh®

While I was doing my 'research' for this post I came across this luscious body cream and shower gel in the same, wonderful fragrance! I'm sure they're both pure heaven and I'm putting them on my wish list right this second.

Fresh Scents was created by a single mom, Terri Weitzman, several years ago.  Her story is so interesting and inspirational.  Read more about her and all of her fabulous products here.
